Svencionys

It was a snowy day when we traveled to Svencionys during Christmas time. This was one of the places Matt enjoyed visiting since he is good friends with the pastor and his family.

This worship team is using all ages and starting them very young!
Svetlana, the pastor's wife, has a great all-male worship team except for the smallest member.

We are thankful for the interpreters (Katia is a big help!) that travel with us and allow better communication.

Bob and Matt get to share some coffee before the church service began.

More friends came to visit...

It was great to spend time with Mindaugas, Audra, Kreta, Gyrius and Audra's mother, Valerija. We have known them since we arrived in Lithuania. Audra was our language teacher in the beginning years. It is always nice to get "caught up" on all that is happening and to see how much their children have grown.

Old Town Christmas

A live tree is cut down from the forest and brought in to the square in Old Town. There is always a big celebration to "light" both trees each year.

This tree is standing near the Cathedral. It even has a small train for children to ride through the middle of the tree. (It is really just a tree made with wire pieces and decorations.) It really is beautiful and fun for everyone.

There is a life-size Nativity scene outside the main Cathedral. It is really beautiful and baby Jesus is a very happy child!

New Year's Eve

Matt has been celebrating New Year's Eve for several years out at the Doan's house. Josh Doan is his good friend and together they brought in the New Year with many, many fireworks. Here are two of Josh's brothers giving a hand too.

We joined them for the first time and had lots of fun with everyone.

Sparklers after midnight in the COLD weather is something that you just have to try. It is really a great way to celebrate!

We think these are called "Chinese Lanterns" and are like a mini hot-air balloon that comes in all kinds of shapes and sizes. This one was a red heart that Josh was sending up for his wife. It is a bit challenging to get it to fill up so it will fly away. We watched it until it faded into the night.

Fireworks were being shot off all around the Doan's home from the neighbors.

Snow is getting deeper

It just keeps coming and it is so beautiful! The table and chairs may get buried before long!

Christmas Visitors

One of our traditions over the years is to have the Bishop and his family and the Assistant Bishop for the Pentecostal Union churches in our home at Christmas time. These are dear friends and we are thankful for the time to visit.

The Roberts came to visit from Latvia. Our three missionary families (Roberts, Millsaps, and us) began ministry together. Our kids were much younger and now are moving forward with their own lives.

MKs together again and maybe for the last time overseas.
