Turkey days

Here we are in blue-sky Turkey! It looked exactly like this every day from morning til night and we loved it. We got our fill of Vitamin D for the year with all the sunshine we had there.

We rented a car one day with friends and went to the nearby city of Perge. This area is full of history. Bob went on a tour for a week and we will share more pictures from that later.

Of course being at our Eurasia Retreat always lets us visit with our dear missionary family. A special treat this time was to be with Herman and Tammy Kuhn and their family. We knew Herman from our Germany days in 1984 and it was so good to be with all of them. We are so thankful for our friends and being able to be together with them again.

FRIENDS

We have recently been able to spend time with some of our Lithuanian friends. We were privileged to have our former neighbors, George and Julija, over for dinner and get caught up on life while we were away. This couple lived next door to us and we are so thankful that we can keep the relationship going even though we live in a new neighborhood. It is funny how things work out because now we live on the same street where George's sister lives. They were excited to learn of this connection.

Next we got to visit with a Lithuanian friend that we met in the states. She and her husband have a heart for the ministry here. They are both Lithuanians. While Loreta (standing to the right of Bette Sue) was visiting her family, we got to have a traditional Lithuanian meal with them. We had Cepeliniai for lunch. Bob is showing them in the bowl. This is a meal that is enjoyed throughout Lithuania. It is a dumpling with a meat ball or a special cheese inside. You put sour cream and a bacon sauce on top. We enjoyed having some homemade Cepeliniai with the family.

One thing we are seeing with our return for the third term is that we have many friendships already established and we are so thankful to be able to move forward and have them grow some more.

BUDDY

While we were at camp we got to be with our dog again. Buddy was Matt's dog and we agreed that when Matt went to the states to attend college, then Buddy would go to live with a Lithuanian family and study Lithuanian. The Camp Director's family gladly took Buddy into their home. He is loved by them all!!!!!! In fact, it seemed like he didn't even remember us at first. He is such a sweet dog and even the MAPS team all enjoyed having him around too. He just had his tenth birthday and we are glad that he is so happy with his new family.
