Ice Sculptures

Vilnius is one of the European Cultural Capitals being featured this year. In honor of this selection the yearly Ice Sculpture event in Old Town featured church buildings that represent our city. This is in the heart of our city and a big event every year. There were school children in the square checking out the sculptures and enjoying some time out of class.

The Blynai (pancakes) shack was selling snacks to all the visitors as well. It was a windy, rainy day but everyone was still having a good time.

This year is also the celebration of the first time the city's name was mentioned in writing in history 1,000 years ago. So, there will be a lot going on this summer for both of these events.

Keeping Warm

Every morning the neighbor's cats wait for their owner to bring them breakfast. Looks like they finally figured out how to keep warm while balancing on the arm of the chair. Usually there is one on each arm.

We have had some colder weather again this week but spring is in the air...somewhere :)

Preaching

Bob is doing a series on relationships at Kelyje. This is a church plant by our fellow missionaries, the Millsaps. They are home for itineration and Bob is helping out with some of the preaching. As you can see, this is a more casual setting and the group meets in the Bible College. Gita, the interpreter sitting to his right, is the pastor in charge while the Millsaps are gone.

St. Anne's Church

St. Anne's Church was built between 1495-1500. It is in our city of Vilnius and a favorite spot for tourists to visit. The legend is that Napoleon liked it so much he wanted to take it back to Paris.

It is a beautiful building and made with 33 different kinds of external bricks. It is still used for services on Sundays.

Another one of the beautiful churches in our city.
