Ice Sculptures

Vilnius is one of the European Cultural Capitals being featured this year. In honor of this selection the yearly Ice Sculpture event in Old Town featured church buildings that represent our city. This is in the heart of our city and a big event every year. There were school children in the square checking out the sculptures and enjoying some time out of class.

The Blynai (pancakes) shack was selling snacks to all the visitors as well. It was a windy, rainy day but everyone was still having a good time.

This year is also the celebration of the first time the city's name was mentioned in writing in history 1,000 years ago. So, there will be a lot going on this summer for both of these events.
